Walking through the woods with the rifle in hands, Will kept his eyes focused on the tree's in front of him, he knew where the camp was and he knew this was it. They were so close to that safe zone, to a new life....they just had to fight for it.
He passed zombies that seemed to not even bother and just let him go, some even seemed to move out the way as he passed but that was probably his imagination. Although it was as if the zombies knew what was going to happen....
The rain continued to fall as he shrugged his jacket further on him but it wasn't like it done any good, the rain still poured down on him as if he was standing under a water fall but that didn't matter.
Nothing was going to stop him from doing what he had to do....
Sighing as she rubbed her bloodied hand against her fore head, Annie took a couple of deep breaths before turning her focus again onto Bella who was currently unconscious on the floor. Fortunately Annie and Emily had managed to stop the bleeding but they still had to take the arrow out of Bella....
"alright when we take this arrow out we're possibly going to have quite a bit of blood coming out again so we got to move her up stairs to one of the bed rooms, ok?" Annie asked a shaking Emily who shortly after the question was asked nodded. However before Annie could get in position to lift Bella up, Emily asked a question of her own.
"do you think she's going to be ok?" Emily asked quietly so Maria who was currently sitting on the sofa with Jamie couldn't hear while she looked worried at Annie who thought about it for a moment before answering.
"It all depends on how much blood she loses when we take the arrow out, I mean the arrow cant stay there forever and its best to do it as soon as possible, we just got to try and make sure she doesn't loose to much blood" Annie replied and again Emily silently nodded her head, biting her lip worriedly causing Annie to sigh and reach out to rub Emily's shoulder a little in a comforting way.
"all we can do is try our best alright" Annie stated and again Emily nodded, offering a small smile this time which Annie returned as they both got in position to move Bella before Anthony spoke up as he was looking out the window.
"I'm going to go to the RV, if they attack again maybe I can sneak attack them using what ever we have in there" Anthony stated and both woman nodded as they watched Anthony exit the cabin and head over to the RV before they gently lifted Bella up between them earning a couple groans of pain from the woman.
"sorry Bella, this is going to hurt but we have to get you somewhere more comfy" Annie whispered to her and Bella nodded in understanding, wincing a little as pain went through her body before she noticed Maria standing nearby in a door way and offered the little girl a smile but she just stood there as if she was frozen in shock.
"Maria honey I want you to be a brave girl and keep an eye out through the windows with Jamie and let us know if you see anyone, ok?" Emily asked as she held Annie carry Bella up the stairs, being carefully not to knock her on the stairs as they went up.
"ok" Maria said a little quietly just as Jamie walked into the room holding the gun which he quickly took over to Annie and held it out for the doctor to take which Annie awkwardly did, putting it into her pocket and nodding a thanks before she continued taking Bella up the stairs with Emily.
"you think we're going to make it to that safe zone?" Maria asked as she un holstered her knife and looked down at it in her hands but all Jamie could do was give her a smile as he walked over to the window and looked out into the pouring rain.
"I-I hope so" Jamie admitted quietly to himself while he looked out the window, making sure they wasn't sneak up on as they stayed in the cabin. Although Jamie had a feeling they should've just left by now.
And his feeling proved to be correct as he failed to notice three men walking through the woods, one of them being crossbow wielding Jake who also had a grin on his face as he looked the cabin over....
Running through the rain to the RV, Anthony sighed in relief as he finally reached the vehicle and entered it to get out of the rain, not noticing that he hadn't closed the vehicle door as he entered before he began looking around for any weapons he could use.
Unfortunately the only weapons that were left in the RV were Will's crossbow which only had one arrow and Bella's machete and he wasn't really confident in using either of the two weapons.
Sighing, Anthony rubbed the back of his head as he crouched down to the floor and went through the cupboards hoping that he was wrong being empty but it turned out he was in fact correct. He only had two weapons, neither he had much experience with, to choose from.
However before he could get up to go and get the weapons he was hit hard over the head with something making him shout out in pain as he gripped the back of his head, feeling a little blood before he turned around and saw some guy that he recognized from Jake's group pointing Will's crossbow at him. He recognized It as Will's because it was missing from the table where it had been.
"bad luck mate" the guy said grinning but just as he pulled the trigger Anthony reached up to move the crossbow in a different direction resulting in the arrow being shot into the floor next to his head, just in time.
"shit!!" the man cursed but before he could do anything else, Anthony kicked the man straight in the chest causing him to fall back towards the table inside the vehicle while Anthony managed to get hold of the crossbow and point it at the man, although it wouldn't do a lot of good without the arrow in it.
"why the fuck cant you just leave us alone?!!" Anthony demanded as he frantically looked around for the arrow that had been shot while the man himself shook the pain out of his head before he slowly pushed himself off the table, grinning when he saw Bella's machete on the table next to him.
"because we want to kill you" the man stated coldly as he grabbed the machete and began moving back towards Anthony, raising the weapon above his head causing Anthony to quickly move back as he felt around for the arrow.
"shit, shit, shit" Anthony exclaimed until he finally managed to grab the arrow but he knew he had no time to load the crossbow, the man was already striking as he brought the machete down to Anthony.
In a desperate attempt to avoid being hit, Anthony moved to his side resulting in the machete striking the carpet and getting caught up in it making the man curse repeatedly as he tried to yank it out, giving Anthony enough time to kick the man back away from him again.
Now with a small chance of survival, Anthony loaded the arrow into the crossbow like he had seen Will do while the man again pushed himself off the table and began moving towards Anthony with an angry face on.
"die!!!" the man shouted but just as he crouched down to strangle Anthony, Anthony turned back around being careful not to hit the machete still stuck in the floor and took a wild chance and shot the arrow, watching as it fortunately went straight through the man's head causing the now dead body to fall on top of Anthony.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Anthony just laid there as he caught his breath back, laying the crossbow beside him before he began pushing the man's dead body off of him, the sound or rain filling the silence as he looked around to make sure he was safe.
However before he could begin to process what had just happened he heard a smashing sound coming from the cabin causing him to panic and curse as he began trying to get the machete free, he had a bad feeling the others were in danger....
Helping Emily lay Bella on the bed, Annie let out a sigh of relief as she rubbed the hair out of her face while also examining how the wound was, luckily it hadn't reopened as they had carried Bella.
Now all they had to do was take the arrow out and sew up the wound with the supplies Annie had currently in her pockets. Since the incident in which most of the medical supplies had been stolen by that couple Annie tended to keep some supplies in her pocket.
"right what do you want me to do?" Emily asked but before Annie could answer she heard the floor boards from down the corridor creak quite loudly which confused as Annie as that meant someone was walking along them.
But they had told Maria and Jamie to stay down stairs....
"whatever you hear, stay here and guard Bella" Annie ordered as she handed over the pistol to Emily who took it confused but she didn't get a chance to ask Annie what was up as the doctor soon exited the room and went down the corridor.
Keeping her eyes peeled for any trouble, Annie cursed as she couldn't see anything through the darkness and could only catch quick glimpses when a little bit of thunder struck outside, lighting up the corridor for a moment each time.
However before she could react something went whizzing straight past her head making her have to resist screaming as she crouched down and frantically looked around to see where it had come from and soon got her answer.
Further down the corridor was that crazy guy that had seen earlier, the one with the crossbow which he was currently pointing at her causing her to curse and dive into the nearest room just as Jake shot the next arrow at her.
Frantically breathing, Annie crawled along the floor and got into a nearby closest before trying to control her breathing as she hid from the mad man, searching around a little to find something in the closest which she could use to defend herself.
However this searching soon stopped when she heard the room door open again and watched as Jake slowly entered the room, his crossbow once again ready to fire as he aimed it about, obviously searching for her.
Holding her breath for what felt like forever, Annie watched Jake look around the room carefully with the obvious intention of killing her until eventually he turned his attention to the closet making her let out a little gasp which she probably shouldn't have.
Seeing him lay his crossbow on the bed, she watched as he walked over and was obviously going to open it causing her to close her eyes and take a couple of deep breaths before she waited until just the right moment and barged out of the closet sending them both to the floor.
Unfortunately as she done that and fell to the floor she winded up hitting her head on the side of the bed causing her to groan as she hit the floor hard, grabbing her head as she rolled around the floor trying to see through her blurry vision.
However it was too late. Jake soon sat down on top of her to pin her down before he reached down and grabbed her neck, beginning to choke her as he grinned in complete madness and her being currently knocked out slightly she couldn't do anything to stop him.
"you know your so pretty and its a shame I got to do this but the boss told me to, although I think I'll keep your body, it'd be a shame not to....use it" Jake said letting out a evil laugh while a couple of tears went down Annie's cheeks.
She desperately tried to push him away, get free but she couldn't think, she couldn't do anything but try and breath in some air but even this she couldn't do properly and time seemed to slow down as her life slowly faded away.
Until a gunshot filled the air and blood splattered her face while she could barely make out a bullet going through Jake's head, killing him instantly and causing the grip on her neck to loosen allowing her to breath again as she looked around to see who had shot Jake and saw Emily standing there giving Annie a small smile.
However before either of them could speak up a loud crashing sound could be heard from downstairs making them panic and quickly begin heading towards where the sound had come from....
Sitting by the window in cover from anything that might be outside, Jamie held Maria's knife which the little girl had let him borrow while the little girl herself hid behind the sofa, also keeping an eye out.
Although Jamie's attention soon turned to something else as he and Maria heard a few banging coming from upstairs making them narrow their eyebrows in confusion when they turned to look up the stairs until they heard a sudden gunshot making them both share shocked faces.
However before either of them could even think about investigating what was going on a large rock suddenly crashed through the glass window Jamie was hiding by making him shout in pain when a glass went across his cheek and Maria to scream loudly.
After this a bunch of gunshots fired into the room making Jamie duck for cover, barely avoiding the bullets while Maria quickly hid behind the sofa resulting in her being very lucky as a few of the bullets went through the sofa.
"M-MARIA!!" Jamie shouted hating how his stutter was getting worse due the situation and him having to take deep breaths as he crawled along the floor, ignoring the blood that was falling from his cheek knowing he was lucky that the glass hadn't got stuck into his cheek and had just cut it.
"Jamie!!!" Maria cried out in return as she dared a look around the corner but let out a shriek when a load of bullets flew in her direction again. However when she had looked around she had managed to see that Jamie was moving towards her to help her, like her own little hero.
"s-stay d-down" Jamie told her when he finally reached her, protectively covering her from any bullets that might hit them which she appreciated, instantly cowering into his body for cover, giving him a small smile. Eventually the bullets seemed to stop and Jamie dared a look over the top of the sofa, luckily seeing nothing.
"a-alright, I want y-you to go upstairs and f-find Annie, o-ok?" Jamie asked and Maria nodded, moving away from him slightly despite not really wanting to and waited until Jamie told her to run up the stairs.
"g-go!" Jamie told her and quickly she ran towards the stairs due to her life literally depending on it before climbing up them, stumbling a couple of times but fortunately she wasn't attacked as she went.
Watching her go, Jamie let out a sigh of relief when Maria made it up the stairs unharmed before he suddenly heard someone trying to break through the door and carefully looked over the sofa as he gripped his knife tight, watching as a big looking man finally smashed through the door as he held a machine gun.
"damn looks like I didn't hit shit" the man stated annoyed as he walked through the living room examining the damage he caused but he couldn't help but grin a little when he saw it all, knowing he'd messed up the room completely.
Taking a few deep breaths as quietly as possible, Jamie got ready to fight his enemy despite knowing he was very out matched, however as he heard the man slowly approaching the sofa, Jamie came up with a plan and quickly went through his pockets in an attempt to find his pen.
"I wonder how many of you people there-" the man started but stopped himself when Jamie threw the pen making a noise somewhere away from the sofa and causing the man himself to turn and start shooting wildly in that direction.
Taking this as a chance, Jamie suddenly came out of his hiding and charged, swiping the knife against the man's neck making the man choke on his own blood as he dropped his gun and fell to the floor, looking up to Jamie as he held his neck in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
"who.......who......are you?" the man asked barely through his own blood as he stared up at Jamie confused while the teenager himself just mercilessly struck down and buried the knife deep in to the man's head before he finally answered the man's question. In a clear voice without his usual stutter for the first time in his life.
"I am a survivor"
Seeing a clearing in the woods not to far from him, Will gripped the rifle more as he crouched to the ground, beginning to carefully move forward until he stopped when he had a clear view of the camp he had come here to attack.
He also had a clear view of one of the guards that were standing at the edge of the camp causing him to raise his gun as he prepared to attack but before he could fire a woman holding a basket suddenly came speed walking over to the man with a smile on her face making Will duck for cover as he watched the people interact.
"what are you doing out here hon, its dangerous" the man stated as he dropped his weapon down to his side and leaned down to kiss the woman gently on the lips which made the woman smile even more as she stood there holding the basket.
"I know but I wanted to see you" she stated happily while looking the man in the eyes which made the man smile even more while Will sighed and shook his head as he ignored a feeling inside him and raised his rifle again, towards the man's head but again before he could shoot he was interrupted which made him duck for cover again.
This time he was interrupted by the voice of a little girl.
"daddy!!" the little girl practically screamed as she ran over to him causing him to chuckle as he caught her in his arms after she jumped at him before he lifted her up into a hug while the woman watched the pair with an amused face.
"hey sweetie" the man whispered as he nuzzled his face against her cheek causing her to giggle and the couple to share a loving look before the man put the girl down and ruffled her hair as he continued speaking, meanwhile Will took a couple of deep breaths as his finger got ready on the trigger again as he aimed, he couldn't let a little girl get in his way....
"why don't you take mommy's basket back to camp and when I get off guard duty I'll read you a story ok?" the man suggested as he crouched down to look the little girl in the eyes and she soon nodded in a response before kissing the man on the cheek and taking the basket off the woman and then ran off back to camp.
However this caused Will to lower his rifle again in shock because now the woman wasn't holding the basket it showed off that she was pregnant which made Will unsure how to feel about shooting the people while the man he had his rifle aimed at sighed as he bowed his head.
"I wish I didn't have lie to her, I mean I'm out there killing people and she thinks I'm a hero...." the man admitted quietly causing the woman to quickly pull him into a hug, rubbing the back of his hair while a couple of tears went down the man's cheeks.
"its ok honey, you have to protect me and her, it may be hard but family is what matters ok?" the woman asked softly knowing that it sounded horrible to say it but it was true, they had to look out for themselves and the man soon nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile Will sighed as he lowered his rifle for the final time and ran a hand through his hair. Soon after he done this Will began quietly moving away from the camp as he began heading back to his group, his own family.
He couldn't kill people in cold blood, he wasn't a murder and he never would be. He was the hero....
Arriving back at the cabin, Will instantly became worried when he realized that the cabin had obviously been attacked. A window was completely smashed, the door had been bust in and he could see by looking through what was left of the window that the living room had nearly been completely destroyed.
"Anthony!, Bella!, Annie!, Maria!, Emily!, Jamie!" Will shouted out each name in turn as he began jogging towards the cabin, keeping the rifle ready to defend himself but he soon just stopped and stared at the cabin in shock before he bowed his head and let out a sigh, he had failed, he had failed to protect any of them.
"about time you got here" he heard Anthony say from behind him and Will turned, now with a smile on his face to see Anthony exit the RV and the two soon had a bro hug, glad to see that both of them were alive.
"how's everyone?" Will asked his worry now gone as he walked over to the RV with Anthony while Annie soon exited the RV and greeted them at the door with a smile on her face as she saw Will approaching.
"I'll let the doc fill you in, I'm going to go get your truck ready because we're all ready to go" Anthony said and with a nod of confirmation from Will, Anthony patted the man on the back before going off to the truck taking the rifle Will had with him leaving Will to turn to Annie as she started speaking.
"we're all fine, Bella is resting and we've managed to successfully take the arrow out of her, Maria and Jamie are a little shaken up because of when we got attacked like we all are but at least we're alive" Annie reported and Will nodded in agreement as he walked into the RV to check on Bella himself and thankfully saw that she was being cared for by Emily on the in the back.
"hey, I'm sorry for how I talked to you earlier" Will said as he turned to look at Annie but the woman shook her head as she passed Jamie and Maria on the sofa in the middle of the vehicle and headed to the front to start the engine.
"its alright Will....lets just get to this safe zone, yeah?" Annie asked and Will nodded as he picked up his crossbow which had his last arrow In it off the side and headed out of the RV, giving nods to the others before closing the door and heading over to the truck.
"we're all ready to go boss" Anthony stated with a grin which Will returned as he got into the driving seat next to Anthony and started the engine of the truck, giving the cabin one last look before he pulled the truck out of its drive and headed down the road again, quickly followed by the RV.
