Concentrating on his driving, Will made sure he handled the construction with care as he could begin to see the massive zombie herd in the distance as well as their target the hospital which was surrounded by a load of walls. Will knew this was going to be risky but they had no choice.
They needed them supplies....
Knocking on the back of the cabin, Will used that to tell Ricky and Jamie who were in the back to get ready before Will gripped the steering wheel harder as he muttered one last "good luck" to himself just as the truck began smashing through the huge herd of zombies, heading straight towards the hospital walls.
"come on you son of a bitch, give me a break just this once" Will said as he pratically gave it his all to smash through the zombie herd which fortuantly didnt stand a chance to the "big ass truck" as Anthony had called it. However Will feared that the further they got into the herd the thicker it would get, and the more harder to push through.
Meanwhile in the back, Jamie and Ricky used their pistols to shoot some of the zombies to thin their numbers, although they didnt fire to many bullets as they didnt want to use all their ammo before they even reached the hospital, they had no idea what was behind those walls.
However Jamie wasn't even hitting much causing the kid to feel bad and doubt himself but Ricky kept on telling him he was doing fine, it was his first supply run after all, you had to give the kid a break it isn't like he's ex - military like Will.
"s-shit, d-damn, f-fuck....maybe I-I shouldnt have came o-on this run" Jamie admitted after his load of curses which despite the situation made Ricky chuckle and Jamie glare at him in response.
"w-whats so f-funny?" Jamie asked while Ricky just shook his head still laughing a bit as he shot at a few more zombies before putting away his gun deciding not to use any more ammo while Jamie did the same.
"just didnt think you actually swore was all" Ricky commented with a smirk on his face causing Jamie to sigh in annoyance as he put his head in his hands, trying to block out all the groans from the zombies and the bumps of the bodies hitting the truck as Will drove it.
"I-I can swear" Jamie told him while Ricky just chuckled again and patted the kid's back before noticing that the truck was nearly at the wall before he pointed it out to Jamie and the two of them ducked behind the cabin just in case the impact was bad, hoping they had planned this right.
Seeing as the truck was about to finally reach the wall, Will closed his eyes and prepared himself for the impact just as it happened, jolting Will a bit and caused him to hit his head hard on the the seat he was sitting on but he just ignored that as he picked up his crossbow and quickly slipped out of the driver's door window.
"move it now!!" Will ordered Jamie and Ricky who quickly complied and walked along the truck's roof before jumping over the wall, landing a bit hard on the ground but their injuries wasnt that bad, the coast also looked very clear of zombies.
Meanwhile Will himself barely made it out of the driver's window and onto the roof before the zombies came and tried to reach up to get him but he just shrugged it off and strapped the crossbow to his back before crossing the small space on the roof and getting onto the wall, being more careful than the other two getting over due to his leg.
"well...t-that went w-well" Jamie commented causing Will and Ricky to give him the look which said great, now things are going to go wrong because you said that before they started to move towards the hospital itself, getting their weapons ready just in case.
"just be on guard, we know the plan. Get in find the medicine storage, pick up what we can along the way and then take a quick trip to the locker rooms before we leave, got it?" Will asked as they reached the front doors and both Jamie and Ricky nodded.
Getting their confirmation, Will got Jamie to hold his crossbow as he got his crowbar which he had borrowed from Karen off his back before using it to open the doors enough so they could burst it which actually worked before he put the crowbar back in its place and got his crossbow and kicked open the doors to find a load of people to greet them.
All of them already dead with recent gun shot wounds in their heads....
Standing at the what was entrance to their now ruined camp, Karen sighed as she looked down the road waiting for their three group members to come back despite knowing they wouldn't be back for a couple of hours yet.
"worried about them?" Bella asked correctly as she came to join Karen standing at what was left of the entrance while Karen just nodded silently as she let out a sigh and pulled her jacket closer around her. Despite all they had been through it was still cold....
"yeh I know its silly because they can handle themselves but....there's so few of us now and I don't want our group to become any smaller, you know?" Karen asked and Bella nodded knowing exactly what Karen meant, she was still expecting to see a load of residents about camp sometimes.
"well hopefully there's more people at Charleston" Bella said hoping to get a smile on Karen's face but it didn't work which made Bella sigh as she bowed her head to look at the ground unsure of what to say now.
"its ok, you don't need to say anything, I know your trying to be supportive but I ain't the kind of person who wants that, ok?" Karen said as if reading Bella's mind, however just as Bella began walking away Karen caused her name causing her to turn around and look back to Karen.
"hey Bella, have you ever had a bad dream which you've felt is really real or you even feel like it might happen?" Karen asked and turning around Bella was about to make a joke but seeing an actual worried look on Karen's face made Bella push back her joke as she walked back over to Karen worried herself.
"what's the matter Karen?" Bella asked but Karen just shook her head and scoffed at how silly she was currently being just to put on the tough girl act. However deep inside she had actually worked herself up into quite a worried state....
"its nothing....just a stupid nightmare" Karen muttered trying to convince herself more than anything as she walked off leaving Bella to watch her go with a even more worried expression before sighing and looking down to the floor again.
Bella really didn't like the way things were going. Not only had they lost their camp and nearly all of their friends. Not only did they have to rely on a pipe dream of some safe zone in Charleston but everything was seeming to tear them apart from the inside.
And she knew if they all continued on like this none of them would even make it to see if the safe zone in Charleston was actually real or not....
Watching Maria stick out her tongue in concentration while trying to perfectly drawn a leaf, Emily had to stifle a laugh due to her seeing the tongue sticking out action, knowing the little girl had picked it up from Jamie.
"what's so funny?" Maria asked with a pout on her face as she turned to look at Emily causing Emily to laugh a little bit more as she got up shaking her head before walking over to Emily and ruffling her hair much to the little girl's annoyance.
"nothing I just love how you've picked up some of Jamie's traits, shows you spend a lot of time with him" Emily teased causing Maria to blush as she bit her lip more and turned to look away from Emily.
Emily had recently learned that Maria in fact had a crush on Jamie and she couldn't help but squeal with excitement inside. She knew it would be wrong for Maria and Jamie to date now but maybe when they were old enough?
Although Emily knew she was just thinking ahead. She couldn't help but put people in relationships together in her head and plan that it might happen later on. That was just the "girly girl" in Emily talking though.
"its alright to spend time with him you know, its always good to spend more time with people than me, that's what I was honestly worried about when we came here....that you wouldn't want to talk with anyone else" Emily admitted but Maria just giggled as she looked to Emily again.
"I didn't really want to talk to anyone else but Jamie seemed alright so I talked to him, he's also less of a child" Maria said and something in the little girl's voice made Emily think Maria thought that it was a bad thing to be childish....
However instead of asking about this, Emily just smiled and ruffled the girl's hair again making her groan in protest as she tried to fix it to its place again making Emily laugh as she went back to where she was sitting so she could read again.
Walking into the hospital now wary, Will, Ricky and Jamie kept their weapons ready and their eyes peeled as Will crouched down to examine one of the recently made dead bodies with a frown on his face.
"you think whoever done this is still around?" Ricky asked Will but the man just shrugged in response as he stood up again and aimed his crossbow as he looked around, beginning to walk further into the hospital followed closely by Jamie and Ricky.
"don't know....they could be but we stick to the plan got it?" Will asked and they nodded before heading over to a map on the nearby wall, looking for where the medicine storage would be.
"h-here, it says t-there here" Jamie says pointing to a certain point on the map which Will sighed at where they were but nodded as he looked down the corridor they apparently was down.
"its quite far away, damn near the other end of the hospital so I think we should split up, you two can head for the locker rooms while i'll go get our medicines, deal?" Will asked and they shared a look before Ricky answered.
"you sure your up for that?" Ricky asked gesturing to Will's leg but the map just simply brushed it off and turned the flash light that was on his crossbow on before walking down the corridor leaving the other two to find where the locker rooms were.
Kicking the next door open, Will quickly shone his light around to check their was no zombies before walking forward. The last thing he needed was for a zombie to suddenly appear out of nowhere.
Sighing as the corridor seemed to get darker and darker the further he got, Will turned his flash light up to the highest it would go before he suddenly froze as he could hear the groans of a LOT of zombies.
Taking a deep breath, Will turned around the next corner and aimed his crossbow but quickly regretted it as he managed to get the attention of a whole mini herd of zombies....
"fuck" Will cursed as he walked back as they began heading towards him but as he rounded the corner a zombie came behind him and bit into his shoulder making him scream in shock before kicking it back and beginning to look around quickly as he watched many zombies stumbling out of their rooms.
Pushing the thought of getting bit away from his mind, Will began running towards the door he came as the zombies chased him, seemingly getting quicker and quicker as they did causing Will to pick up his own speed.
Reaching the doors, Will practically threw himself through them before pressing himself against the door, putting his whole weight into it as he held back the door just as the load of zombies began pushing it against it themselves.
Sweat went down Will's forehead as he tried desperately to hold back the door noticing at how he was drawing attention from a three zombies causing him to sigh as he quickly tried to form a plan in his head.
Coming up with one, Will grabbed the crowbar from his back and slid it in between the handles allowing him to grab his crossbow again and aim at one of the three incoming zombies before shooting an arrow straight through its head.
After he done this, Will put his crossbow strapped around his back and took the crowbar out of the door handles and dug it into the next one before running off just as the zombies from the other room came tumbling in.
Heading towards the locker rooms where hopefully Ricky and Jamie would be, Will kept his speed up as he moved quickly through the hospital, swerving round as he looked for zombies on the way using his flash light.
However as he went through the next set of doors before he could do anything someone whacked him around the head with a machine gun and then he could hear a load of gunshots and the sound of zombies falling to the floor.
Finally managing to look up Will barely saw a older looking woman aiming her machine gun down at Will with a threatening face but before Will could do anything his head fell back to the floor as he lost consciousness.
Sitting down in the RV, Annie put her head in her hands as she let out a sigh. Finally everyone in their group was ok now and didn't have to be constantly watched by her which had now gave her a chance to take a break.
Smiling as she turned her head to look down at the pillow she soon changed position so she was laying along the sofa before she laid her head on the pillow and closed her eyes although her rest was short lived as she soon heard Bella speaking to her.
"sorry I can see your about to go to sleep but.....I think something's wrong with Karen" Bella said biting her lip as she looked down to the floor while Annie raised her eyebrow as she looked at the woman.
"its fine but what you mean some things wrong with Karen?" Annie asked confused as she hadn't seen anything wrong with Karen and to herself the woman looked completely fine but she could also tell something must be wrong by Bella's reaction to whatever it was.
"I don't know she was going on about some bad dream and she really seemed worried about it....maybe even scared" Bella said quietly, practically whispering it. She knew that it sounded weird, Karen was never scared but it really seemed like she was this time.
"I'll talk to her" Annie said finally after a few moments of thinking and Bella nodded giving Annie a thanks before beginning to walk away, however she soon stopped when Annie spoke up again.
"are you ok?" Annie asked confusing Bella slightly but when she turned to look Annie in the eyes Bella could understand why Annie was asking. Annie could tell that Bella hadn't been doing too good lately....
"I'm fine...." Bella lied but Annie just gave her the look which told her that Annie knew something was up and wasn't going to let it go causing Bella to sigh as she shook her head and ran her hand through her hair.
"I don't know, I'm getting myself worked up over nothing I suppose" Bella admitted as she sat down on the sofa next to Annie who had now gathered she wasn't going to get any sleep so had got up into a sitting position.
"just tell me, it feels good sometimes to just let it out" Annie told her and she nodded closing her eyes as she made up a way to say it in her head before she took another deep breath and finally spoke.
"before when we all reunited and Will thought I was sleeping, he went on about how he was going to protect me never mind what...." Bella said and at first hearing was happy Will was prepared to do that for her but for some reason something didn't seem right by the way she said it.
"why do I get the feeling something's not right here?" Annie asked causing Bella to sigh as she put her head in her hands again, not really wanting to say this but she really needed to get this off her chest.
"he meant anything, he was even going on about abandoning you, Anthony....the others just to keep me alive" Bella said quietly, barely saying it at all and to be honest, Annie didn't have a clue what to say, she didn't even know where to start.
She knew a man was always prepared to do anything to protect his girlfriend and she knew that Will would always choose Bella over her but she never thought he'd admit it out loud, actually say it to his girlfriend....
Beginning to process it, Annie closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she thought about what to say next. She still liked the two of them, she'd still be friends with them but she still didn't know what to think, she really hoped it wouldn't come to what Will was saying.
"look I wont let it come to that, I wont let him sacrifice you guys or something, I got your back ok?" Bella asked but Annie just shook her head and put her hand on Bella's, quieting her down.
"he's just doing what any boyfriend would but if you really feel unsettled about this, you should talk to him when he gets back" Annie told her comfortingly and after another sigh Bella nodded while getting up.
"thanks" Bella muttered and Annie gave her a small comforting smile in return before Bella turned and left the RV leaving Annie alone in the vehicle to process the information.
Turning to look at the back of the RV where the bible lay on the table Annie gave a sigh as she closed her eyes and leaned her head back. She just hoped God was indeed watching over them....
Slowly opening his eyes, Will looked around through his blurred vision to take in where he was which seemed to be some kind of lab. For some reason he wasn't in binds even though he had been kidnapped, which also confused him.
"you weren't bit by the way....shame I would've like testing on your arm" an older woman freakishly admitted causing him to turn to lay on his back as he looked over to the same woman who had kidnapped him sitting at a desk.
"why....why did you kidnap me?" Will asked groggily while the older woman just scoffed as she got up, grabbed a clipboard and headed over to a set of computers and began doing stuff which Will wouldn't understand, although he did manage to catch a glimpse at her name tag.
"answer the question DR. Polge!!" Will demanded while "DR. Polge" just laughed and turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow not bothering to hide her amusement at his demand.
"usually I wouldn't discuss this with my....patients but this time I'll give you the benefit of the doubt" the doctor stated as she walked over and crouched down in front of him knowing he didn't have enough energy yet to get up or attack her.
"I RESCUED you from them zombies thinking you had been bit on the arm so I knocked you out and brought you here. I thought you were dying anyway so I might as well use you to get samples but when I checked your arm turning out you wasn't bit" she stated a little bit distastefully as Will could tell by her face that she would've preferred him bit which made him start to get worried.
"and what about all them dead people I saw at the front, what happened to them?" Will asked keeping a close eye on her while sneakily looking around for his crossbow but she just took In a deep breath as she closed her eyes before shaking her head and gesturing over to a table.
"your crossbow is over there by the way" she stated having seen him looking around for it but it didn't matter to her, she could tell he wouldn't hurt her unless if he was giving reason to and she didn't intend to.
Narrowing his eyes in thought Will got up slowly before moving over to the table and picking up his jacket, putting it on before he checked to make sure his crowbar and crossbow were still good which they were making him wonder why the woman was so ready to trust him or was this just a trick?
"any way you can leave when ether you want but while your here maybe you can help me in my work?" she asked while getting up and heading back to her computers while Will propped himself up against a nearby wall before turning to look at her with a raised eyebrow.
"and what is your work?" Will asked curiously but at first the doctor just turned and gave him a smile which made Will a little more uneasy due to the blank expression she gave with it but when she gave him his answer he was totally shocked.
"I'm working on a cure....."
