Lana Harris is a main character in Safe House. Arguably, Lana has one of the most interesting perspectives in the story. She is a teenage girl, and closeted lesbian who is dealing with both normal teenage issues in addition to post-traumatic stress disorder.

She is the daughter of Robbie and Helena Harris, and the sister of Chuck, Jordan and Danica.

Pre-Apocalypse

Lana attends school at Crystal Forest High School alongside Katherine Lane, her best friend and crush. After having to decline a dinner outing with Katherine, the two of them have dinner at Lana's house because of the leftovers from Thanksgiving.

Post-Apocalypse

The morning of the outbreak, Lana comforts Katherine after she panics about not being able to reach her parents when she calls them. Lana goes through shock when they are separated from Jordan, who is presumed to be deceased.

Lana and the others manage to make it to the police station, where they meet Lucy and are taken to Fort Bargain.

Finally able to have a moment to herself, Lana is unable to take everything in and goes into shock, not leaving her motel room for an entire day. When she does come out, she feels refreshed and is able to deal with everything. The most pressing being that Katherine wishes to search for her parents - unaware of her father's death in the prologue.
