Jacob Zachary is the protagonist of The Road Warrior, where he is a major POV character. A self made man, whose survival has come at the cost of others, Jacob isn't the type of man one would expect to play the hero. However, being the charming bad boy he is, Jacob is willing to play the part of such if it gets him the green he needs; besides, what did a little game of hero ever do to anyone?
Remember the bad boy you wanted to be and/or had a crush on? Welcome to Jacob, ladies and gentleman. Confidence, charm, deviousness, snark, mysterious, rebellious, and most of all a love for leather jackets makes Jacob seem like a cliche. For the most part, his exterior points to this. Jacob has accepted this image of himself, and using a sense of pride, tries to act superior to those around him and show his dominance. However, with a devious mind, Jacob is able to adapt to different situations and put on different acts as part of a con. He's a very convincing liar, after all.
Still, looking deeper finds a more sensitive man. A genuine caring soul, Jacob has tried to abandon it due to the oubtreak, but the fractured goodness still sits in his heart. To certain extents, Jacob can be considered kind and loyal, at least during certain situations. Jacob holds a certain love for mankind and is a surprising optimistic, human person. With aspiring dreams of having family, and dark nightmares of being alone, Jacob hopes to one day have enough wealth to be able to start a family of his own. Using this as an excuse for his greed, however, is what drives Jacob down his own pit of despair. Despite this, he is still easily frustrated with other people.
Surprisingly, Jacob is a very emotional man. When on the cool he is very logical with both people and conflicts, knowing not get himself involved in petty situations. It is this logic that has kept Jacob alive. However, Jacob finds trouble when it comes to dealing with his emotions. He has his occasional outbursts on people, and when saddened, isolates himself from the world. While he doesn't get close to many, Jacob longs for someone to connect with and understand him. When a person he loves is harmed, Jacob takes it rough and can be very unpredictable. Being accused and faced with his own mistakes makes Jacob very defensive of himself, as he is the type of man to run from his mistakes rather than deal with him.
