Pokémon Anthology

Dayton Kukui is a protagonist of Pokémon Anthology, introduced in the third volume. A swindler with an obsession for money (why does he want to save up ten million PokéDollars, anyway?), Dayton is a smooth-talking kid with more confidence than skills as a wannabe con man. He takes on various--and often dangerous--part-time jobs, such as working as a Pyukumuku chucker and a Tauros wrangler. He successfully manages to con Mallow out of some money by faking an injury, but ends up facing some brutal karmic payback in the process when she turns out to be the delivery courier dropping off a Rotom for Professor Kukui, and she discovers that he is not a cripple at all. The professor has recently encouraged Dayton to take on the Island Pilgrimage, an ancient Alolan tradition that fosters strength and purpose in young trainers.

PersonalityEdit

Egocentric and selfish, but also charming and witty, Dayton is a complicated kid with an obsession for cold-hard cash and an eye for conning and swindling other people of their money. Dayton is earnest and focused on his goals, but is quick to change sides in the face of conflict when one side seems more apt to win over the other.

He is someone who has not had any cause to believe in or fight for, and is given the opportunity to figure that out and choose a side once and for all. Dayton is a bit of a slob and more than willing to get his hands dirty. He is a rough-and-tumble kind of guy, and often practices his own variation of Pokémon attacks on his cousin and Pokémon.

HistoryEdit

Pre-seriesEdit
